My favourite tv series

These tv series for me are perfect. I wouldn't change anything /// Estas series para mí son perfectas, no cambiaría nada.

This speech was written by Mary Schmich and published in The Chicago Tribune in 1997.

The original title was "Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young".

In 1999 Baz Luhrmann made a video using Mary's words and the song featured in Romeo + Juliet "Everybody's free to feel good" by Rozzalla. The narrator is Lee Perry, an australian actor.

I am posting this because I love the video, and the advice given he gives us.

What do you think about the beauty magazines statement? Do you think he's right?

Obviously, everybody will say that it's not true as this is a fashion blog and reading beauty magazines is part of our life. But I ask myself, why do I read beauty magazines? To be honest, I always skip the beauty pages of every magazine I read. I don't need to know about the latest anti-age cream (even the name is horrible), the best surgeons in my city or how to lose five pounds in two weeks. The only thing I like are the make-up guides, but I even find that boring. Well, there are some good things too, advice, and everything, but the main point is far away from real beauty.

Me encanta el vídeo y los consejos que da.

¿Qué pensáis de lo que dice sobre las revistas de belleza? ¿Estáis de acuerdo? Obviamente no, primero porque éste es un blog de moda y leer revistas de moda es el pan nuestro de cada día. Pero me pregunto ¿para qué leer revistas de belleza? Para ser sincera, siempre me salto las páginas de belleza de todas las revistas que leo. No me hace falta saber cuál es la última crema anti-edad (sólo el nombre es terrible), quién es mejor cirujano plástico del momento o cómo perder 4 kilos en una semana. Lo único que me interesa son los consejos sobre maquillaje, pero hasta éso me resulta aburrido. Bueno, también tienen cosas buenas, pero en fin, se alejan bastante de hacernos disfrutar de lo que tenemos.

Remember that I desperately wanted a denim jacket? Well, I didn't find a denim jacket, I found THE denim jacket. It is perfect, seriously. Bueno, no es que haya encontrado una cazadora vaquera, he encontrado La Cazadora vaquera, con mayúsculas. Es perfecta, en serio, me encanta. En Zara, claro. Por 49,90 €.


I finished the studding. I love the result. /// Por fin terminé de poner las tachuelas. Me gusta bastante cómo ha quedado.

Ladurée Macaroons!

When you go to Paris, buying Ladurée macaroons is a must. I love the colours. /// Si vas a París, tienes que comprar una cajita de macaroons en Ladurée obligatoriamente.

Romeo + Juliet

I don't know what to think about this film:

- The casting is perfect. Romeo has always been like Leonardo and Juliet has always been Claire Danes. The perfect couple.
- Baz's eccentricity goes too far in this film. The parts where Romeo and Juliet are together are perfect, but when Romeo is with his friends or Juliet talks with her family, everything goes crazy. Is he saying that everything is ok as long as they stay together? It could be.
- The photography is amazing.
- The dialogues are beautiful, respecting Shakespeare's original lines, but translated to modern age. It makes me want to memorize every line.
- The costume design is quite good.
- The soundtrack is average.

Conclusion: there's no conclusion. I don't think they'll ever make a better interpretation of Romeo & Juliet, the characters will never be so well performed.

No sé qué pensar de esta película:

- El casting es perfecto. Romeo siempre ha sido Leonardo di Caprio y Julieta siempre ha sido Claire Danes. La pareja perfecta.
- La excentricidad de Baz es excesiva en esta película. Las partes en las que Romeo y Julieta están juntos son perfectas, pero cuando Romeo está con sus amigos o Julieta con su familia, todo es como una locura. ¿Quiere decir que todo está bien mientras Romeo y Julieta estén juntos? Podría ser.
- La fotografía es una maravilla.
- Los diálogos son una maravilla también. Respeta el texto de Shakespeare pero lo translada a la época moderna, sin que resulte absurdo. Dan ganas de memorizar cada frase.
- El vestuario es bastante bueno, por no decir muy bueno.
- La banda sonora es muy regular.

Conclusión: no hay conclusión. No creo que en un futuro próximo se llegue a hacer una película sobre Romeo y Julieta mejor que ésta. Al menos en cuanto respecta al casting.
