Inspired - Margot Tenenbaum and Sofia Coppola

Today I went to the hairdresser and had my hair cut like Margot from The Tenenbaums
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I love this film. I remember seeing it for the first time with a friend and totally hating it. She really liked it, and I thought she was crazy. I used to tell everyone that was the worst film in the world. That suicide scene with Luke Wilson had gotten stuck in my mind and I couldn't forget it.
But then I watched Life Aquatic, and I adored it. So I thought to myself: "If it is the same director, and the actors are great (Gwyneth Paltrow, Owen Wilson, Bill Murray...)... it has to be a good film" So I rented it and watched it again. And I loved it. I understood the characters, and the aesthetic of the scenes. It was brilliant.

My favourite character was Margot, who writes plays at the age of twelve, smokes since then and wears a fur coat. Who doesn't want to be like her?
I have already talken about her (a little) here.

I highly recommed you to read this fabulous series: "relooking des héroïnes de notre enfance" by The Cherry Blossom Girl, a look on the most inspiring characters in film and literature.
---------------------------

Y entonces vi Life Aquatic, y me pareció genial. Y me encantó.

Loewe Playing Cards: The best gifts always come in little boxes

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

They say the best gifts always come in little boxes. That is, a ring. But in this case I couldn't be happier, a friend of mine just gave me these playing cards with the image of Loewe and pictures of Kate Moss and some articles fron one of their collections. The people of Loewe gave them to her mother at a Loewe presentation years ago. I love them, they will be great for playing at the beach with Jacqueline Kennedy-esque sunglasses or by the swimming pool. Imagine, "what is in your bag?" "A bikini, sun protection cream, a towel, a pair of sunglasses, and Loewe playing cards...." How cool does that sound? Nevertheless, I don't know if I will be capable of taking them outside my house... I could lose one card and it would be a total disaster. And they look brand new (those white stains are done on purpose)... I want to play poker with them but I don't want to damage them. Ok, one time won't hurt...

I don't know which collection it is, and I don't know when these were made, so if someone know, please tell me!

Edit: Thanks to the anonymous reader and Mr Q, these cards are from the 1999/2000 collection and the images were taken by Mario Sorrenti. You guys know everything! Haha, thank you so much.

---------------------------

Muchas gracias! :)

Back to Futurama

I love Futurama. Do you watch/used to watch it? I don't know why they cancelled it... it was sooo good! The Lucy Liu cameos, Bender's careless behaviour, Fry's laugh, the professor...

Some funny quotes:
Soldier: This is the worst part. The calm before the battle.
Fry: And then the battle is not so bad?
Soldier: Oh, right. I forgot about the battle.

Professor Hubert Farnsworth: Shut up friends. My internet browser heard us saying the word Fry and it found a movie about Philip J. Fry for us. It also opened my calendar to Friday and ordered me some french fries.

[Bender negotiates Leela's blernsball contract]
Bender: Hey. You put a one and two zeros in front of that or we pass. Deal.
Leela: Bender. That's great. How much did you get me?
Bender: One hundred dollars.

God: Bender, being God isn't easy. If you do too much, people get dependent on you. And if you do nothing, they lose hope. You have to use a light touch, like a safecracker or a pickpocket.
Bender: Or a guy who burns down a bar for the insurance money.
God: Yes, if he makes it look like an electrical thing. If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

Bender: So do you know I'm going to do something before I do it?
God: Yes.
Bender: What if I do something else?
God: Then I don't know that.

The Spring/Summer 09 Campaigns: A Comic Book

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I am very happy with the spring/summer ads this year... I love almost all of them! when I usually like two or three campaigns, and I start liking them as I see them on the magazines.

So as I wanted to post some of my favourite images, and I wanted to do it in a cool way, here you have a fashion ad campaign comic book! haha. By the way, I went to Diane von Furstenberg in Madrid and they were selling her comic book... it was 30€, I thought it was too much so I didn't buy it, but it looked good.

------------------------

The Best Elle Spain cover ever

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

This cover from Elle Spain February 2008 shows that it is not too difficult to make a good cover. They didn't need Svarowsky crystals, not giant water tanks, just a good model, simple styling, a good photographer and not too much text (I edited the image, it had more text but it looks better this way)
Well done, Elle Spain.

Bien hecho,
Elle.

The Sales

This year's sales are known to be the most heavy ones of all times... but have you really bought more?
I've gone shopping a lot during the past few days, and everything is scandalously cheap... but I haven't bought anything! Maybe it is the moment to start saving...
----------------

There is fashion for men too

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I must admit that I'm not very up-to date with the trends for men.

I usually like classic clothes, or the opposite: the surfer style (long swimming trunks, tees, tan in winter, the surfboard in one hand...) and I don't quite like a too-modern style. The truth is that it is very difficult to create new and unseen clothes that actually look good.

But this editorial does look good. I found it at JeAN's, and it is simply beautiful.

--------------------

DIY: Ripped Tights

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

This is very easy to do. Remember how upset you used to get when your tights ripped? Now you can wear them instead of throwing them out. Follow the trends the girls from LA in The Cobra Snake are wearing.
Maybe it is too much for you, but I assure you that if you do it well, some runners on your stockings will look très bien.

You need:
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
-A pair of tights. It can be any colour, but it looks better on black. You can use an old pair with previous runners on it, but if you want to buy new tights for this experiment, you can go to H&M, there are good quality tights just for 3 $.
-Pins

Steps:
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
1. Put the tights on. It will be better as the holes/runners will be at the exact place you want them to be, plus, the ripping is easier as the tights are stretched.
2. Take a pin and pull out a thread. Then, with your hands, pull the thread until a runner appears.
3. Stretch the fabric to extend the runner.

If you want it to look like this:
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Just pull more threads with the pin to create paralell runners. This is my favourite effect, it looks like you bought it like that. Don't make any holes, it won't look too grunge.

For a more exaggerated look:

When you pull the thread with the pin, start a runner and with your hands make holes along the runner.

Use thicker tights to get a similar effect.
