Drawing fashion: Fantastic illustrations by Óscar Tusquets

I love art. I loved the Art History classes at school, it was really interesting knowing about the different styles and all the terms and influences around the pieces. I like many different styles, even though I admire Mondrian, the type of paintings that I most enjoy are the realist ones. The angle and the colours seem to be taken from a photo, but you can see the brush strokes and the technique used.

So when I saw these Óscar Tusquets illustrations in Marie Claire Spain April 2010, I inmediately fell in love with them.

This piece is called "Testing Manolos in NY": "A girl wearing jeans and sneakers by Stella McCartney sees if she can wear a pair of Manolos at the Blahnik boutique"

10 things Alexa Chung doesn't like

Image from here

Blackbookmag asked Alexa Chung about the things she cannot stand, and she answered...

1. I hate that bad reality TV is so incredibly gripping.
2. I hate online bullying. Those little comment boxes can brim with the most vicious, acidic and pointless remarks.
3. That I have a far-from-pretty voice. This, coupled with the fact that karaoke is basically my favorite activity, makes for some very sad evenings.
4. That I can’t seem to work out my shoe size in America. In England, I’m a size 6. (Yes, I’ve tried an 8.)
5. Surprise encounters. I immediately turn red when I bump into someone I wasn’t expecting to see.
6. Meat.
7. A lot of the music that dominates the charts.
8. Bad manners.
9. When people talk about The Wire beyond season one. I haven’t finished it yet!
10. That I’ve already read Lolita for the first time.

Yesterday I went to Topshop for the first time ever

topshop
Cute cookies from Topshop (and The Royal Tenenbaums script book I bought a year ago)

There is a Topshop in Madrid, and I don't know why but I hadn't visited it yet. I usually look at the website looking for beautiful clothes to buy, but at the end I want so many items that I close the window to avoid money disasters.

Nevertheless, Topshop organized a special sale for press yesterday, and I thought that it would be the perfect moment to get some Topshop items. It was great shopping at 10 PM.

I bought a sweater and a jumper, both are very cute. I'd have bought the entire store...

As Ari (Fashionisima) pointed out, that sweater is clearly inspired by Alexander Wang. You can buy it here.

Hazel, a brand I adore

The other day I was talking about the shop where I spend a millionaire gift check. I said Harvey Nichols, Bergdorg Goodman, or something like that. But I have to add another shop to the list: Hazel. There is a Hazel where I usually go shopping, and I always go there because I know that they'll have something new and original, and I always end up buying something: a handbag, a headband, a scarf... I love it. Their clothes are very romantic and personal. And also, the prices are very reasonable (shoes from 60€ to 100€, handbags from 40€ to 150€...)

Hazel was born in 2008 (in Spain) and since then a team of amazing designers create two collections every year, that include handbags, shoes, accesories, and clothes (really pretty, by the way). I had the pleasure of visiting the offices and meeting the people behind Hazel, great people with a trendsetting eye and good taste. I've seen the collection and it's absolutely fantastic.

Hazel Spring/Summer 2010 Trends:
Soft Nude: The Cacharel girl. Soft colours, beige, grey, white... and some colour bursts too.
Funny Retro: Retro will always be in, fortunately. Vintage cuts, Lolita-esque accesories... They've used wood, cork, raffia... Oh, and there are some platform shoes very covetable!
Street Rock: There's always a moment to wear studs, leather, black, denim, zippers, killer heels. Freja Beha + Voguettes + Alexander Wang + 90's= Perfection!
Powerful Woman: Sofisticated and elegant.
Printy Jungle: One of my favourite trends. Cheerful prints, natural fabrics.

You can view a list of Hazel's stores here.

I created some collages using photos from the new collection along with some pieces from the designers moodboards.
---------------------

Me encanta.

Soft Nude: La chica Cacharel.

Fashion Designers in Disney: Karl Lagerfeld as Goofy, Marc Jacobs as Donald Duck...

These are a series of drawings by Ulrich Schröder from Elle Spain April 2010. You'll see Karl Lagerfeld as Goofy, (note: It's actually the "Big Bad Wolf". Thanks to Uline) Domenico Dolce as Mickey, Marc Jacobs as Donald Duck, Donatella Versace as Daisy...
It is a fun idea, don't you think? The Simpson's editorial was hilarious too.
