Magazines they are a-changin'

This month's been a surprise seeing how almost every spanish fashion magazine has redesigned their layout. They've changed fonts, the proportion between images and text... I don't know if it's just that I care about that kind of things (good art direction is vital), but it's true that it makes you see the content differently. And if that layout change is accompanied by an improvement of the contents, well, then it's just awesome.

-----------

Vogue Spain

Vogue Spain covers are usually very dull. Even though the september one with Miranda Kerr was really pretty, they stuck to their scheme (the same models, classic cropping, etc). Nevertheless, the october cover is a 180º turn. When I saw it, I thought: "This can't be Vogue Spain". But it was. An amazing cover, uncommon, strange frame and fantastic, two models... And in black & white!

If they keep making covers like this, it will be great.

----------

In Elle Spain they had good articles and good editorials from time to time, but they never took risks, and published content of very poor taste sometimes. It seems the change in the direction (the editor in chief resigned after quite difficult problems), is changing things radically. You just have to see their latest two covers (one below) and compare them with the ones they used to make (see them here) They are stunning. Now THAT is a fashion magazine! If they don't make the traditional special issue on december featuring a naked "celebrity" covered in Swarovsky crystals, it will be a good sign.

------------

Marie Claire Spain
Changes in design. If I already liked it, now I like it even more!

Vanidad
Vanidad's case is different. They changed looks some months ago. The magazine used to have black edge (awesome!), and the pages had a very chic allure. They changed everything, and although I still like, I prefer the old version...

---------

Playing at Glamour

Yesterday Glamour organized an event to show us their brand new website. Creating (and managing) the website of a magazine is not easy at all. They must avoid just copying the contents of the magazine into the site every month, and they must not forget the essence of the magazine, which must be reflected on the website. To take care of a website every day you need a very good team. Condé Nast has it. We saw it with the renovation of the Vogue website, a huge improvement. And now with Glamour. The design is fantastic: cheerful colours, pics from the latest events, really useful tutorial videos (the beauty videos are a total success!)…

Let’s talk about the event. The invitation was very mysterious: we were invited to play a game… but what wind of game? We had various theories: a petanque tournament à la Chanel, a gymkana, and a treasure hunt (which I suggested, can you imagine searching for a pair of Louboutin in the Vogue wardrobe?) When we arrived at the Condé Nast offices, we saw that we were going to play a Shopping game, a board game similar to Trivial Pursuit, but only with fashion questions (I talked about it some months ago).

Susana and Sonia (from Condé Nast Digital)

We had to play in pairs. Ariadna from Fashionisima and I sat together, and Jose Luis from Vogue (Esmoquin Room) was our “godfather”. Next to us were Mayte de la Iglesia and Raquel (Gratistotal). Raquel knew all the answers, but as Ariadna and I chose the highest rated questions, we won!! At the other table the winners were Chema and Petitececile. There were all kind of questions, even one that was wrong in the game, Ariadna discovered it. The game said Lara Stone was german, but she was actually born in Netherlands!

It was a very fun evening!

Braids

Unfortunately, the effect looks much cooler if you have blonde hair. Sometimes I wish I was blond. Nevertheless, I'll try one of these looks anyway.

February Events: Tea Party at Vogue, Special Davidelfín collection for Yoox, and the art escapade

February's been one of the busiest months ever. I've had lots of events and no time to talk about them. I though I should dedicate a post to them.

Tea Party at Vogue

Vogue organized a fabulous tea party for bloggers in which they showed us the new Vogue website. The decoration was amazing, a mix between Marie Antoinette and Alice in Wonderland. Perfect for me! I loved it. Thanks to the people at Vogue.

Davidelfin for Yoox

Yoox celebrated their tenth anniversary with the launch of a Davidelfin special collection. His brand was also born ten years ago, so he created ten looks that represent Davidelfin's look. The fantastic people at Yoox showed us (the bloggers) the collection in an afternoon tea with a very cool cake. We talked with David Delfín for what seemed hours, and now I can assure you that he's a very nice person, always laughing and telling us funny anecdotes about his childhood.

Yoox, an online fashion shop with lots of amazing products, knows the blogging world quite well, remember the presentation I attended? Their offices are awesome.

You can check (and buy) the collection here, and listen to the song Bimba sings, it's very beautiful! She wrote it for David.

My favourite items:

Art in ARCO

Some photos I took at ARCO (massive art exhibition in Madrid)

Yes, Marina Pérez was there too! That photo is from an editorial featured in Vogue Spain, and the artwork is by Susy Gómez (thanks for the tip, Delia)

This post has no title. I forgot where I left it. It was something about a dog wearing glasses

A covetable piece
I do think that fashion is art. In all those years I've been seeing clothes that are masterpieces. Like this body by Stella McCartney. It may not be easy to wear, but isn't it beautiful?

Vogue Spain has good news for us

- New website. I love the layout, it's much better than the previous one.

- These pretty t-shirts

I need the one with the dog, it's so cute! hahah

- An editorial
featuring Chanel Iman wearing clothes by spanish designers... yes! See how spanish fashion is quite good too? It wasn't that difficult. Chanel Iman is wearing an Amaya Arzuaga skirt in this photo.
