Vintage watches on your shoes! (As worn by Natalia Ferviú)

One of Spain's greatest stylists, Natalia Ferviú, was photographed by Yvan Rodic (The Facehunter) during his visit to Madrid two weeks ago. Pure awesomeness! I might even try it... It is a very easy DIY!

Natalia works for many magazines, but my favourite editorials she has styled are from Vanidad.

Do It Yourself: Miu Miu S/S 2010 Brooches

Miu Miu S/S 2010 is one of the best collections I've ever seen. The chandelier tops, the beautiful sleeves, the wonderful accesories... and the prints! Miuccia presented a very unexpected series of prints that covered all the fabrics and the brooches embellished the handbags, the shirts, the skirts, and shoes. When I saw the cat brooch, I thought: "Hey, this is very easy to do!"

La colección de Miu Miu S/S 2010 es una de las mejores que he visto jamás. Los tops con cristales tipo lámpara de araña, las mangas abullonadas, los accesorios... y los estampados! Miuccia presentó una inesperada serie de ilustraciones que adornaban los bolsos, las faldas, las camisas, y los zapatos. Cuando vi el broche con forma de gato, pensé: "¡Pero si es facilísimo de hacer!"

You need:

Tijeras, papel, un rotulador, fieltro (del color que quieras), imperdibles y pegamento.

How to do it:
I drew the different figures (a swallow, a cat, a dog and a woman). The process is the same on every of the drawings. /// He dibujado las diferentes figuras (una golondrina, un gato, un perro y una mujer). El proceso es el mismo con cada dibujo.

Step 1:

Print the pattern. Cut it. /// Imprime la plantilla y recórtala.

Step 2:


Cut a piece of felt and place the print on it. Then use it as a pattern and draw it on the felt. /// Corta un trozo de fieltro y coloca encima el dibujo recortado, úsalo como molde y dibuja la silueta sobre el fieltro.

Step 3:

Cut the silhouette, and draw the details with the marker. /// Recorta la silueta y añade los detalles con el rotulador.

How to attach the safety pin:
If you don't want the safety pin to be visible, you'll have to cut the pattern in two steps. See the example of the cat: /// Si no quieres que el imperdible se vea, tienes que cortar la silueta en dos partes. Vee el ejemplo del gato:

The safety pin is placed under the head (which has been cut aside and glued to the body). In the case of the swallow and the dog, you can place it under the head of the bird, and with the woman, under the leg. /// El imperdible va por debajo de la cabeza, la cual ha sido cortada aparte y añadida al resto del cuerpo. En el caso de la golondrina y el perro, es igual, el imperdible va bajo la cabeza, y en el caso de la mujer, bajo la pierna.

Do It Yourself: Blazer with ripped sleeve twist

When I saw this genius blazer in The New Guard I knew it had to be mine. For example, by doing it myself. It's super easy.

You'll need:

- A blazer: It's better if you use a silk blazer or a blazer made of a soft fabric.
- Scissors

Cuando vi este genial blazer en The New Guard supe que tenía que ser mío. De cualquier manera. Por ejemplo, haciéndolo yo misma. Es muy fácil.

Necesitáis:

- Un blazer. Mejor si es de seda o de una tela ligera.
- Tijeras


Steps:

1. Don't try it with a very expensive blazer... maybe you'll regret it /// No lo intentéis con un blazer muy caro, no vaya a ser que os arrepintáis.


2. Cut a hole like the one on the image, on both sides of the sleeves. Important!: Put on the blazer and mark with a pencil or something where do you want the holes to be. /// Haced un agujero como el del dibujo en ambos lados de las mangas. Importante: Poneos primero el blazer y marcad dónde queréis que queden los agujeros.


3.Pass the sleeve through the holes to get that twisted effect. /// Meted la manga por el agujero para que quede ese efecto de retorcido.

Do it yourself: Ripped Trousers

This trend may have started so long ago, but I admit I still like it. Of course, in a moderated way. Ripped jeans were never away, but they made a big comeback with Martin Margiela and Christopher Kane.

If you are wearing ripped jeans, don't pair them with a ripped t-shirt. It will look ridiculous. Balance it with simple t-shirts and elegant accesories for a better result.

Esta tendencia empezó ya hace tiempo, pero debo admitir que aún me sigue gustando. Por supuesto de una manera moderada. Los pantalones rotos nunca se fueron realmente, aunque los responsables de que ahora la gente rompa pantalones nuevos son Christopher Kane y Martin Margiela principalmente.

Si llevas unos pantalones rotos, no te pongas una camiseta rota también, quedará ridículo. Equilíbralo con camisetas sencillas y accesorios elegantes.

Really short shorts


I love the detail of the pockets. It adds a cool touch to the shorts. If the pockets are not long enough, sew a piece of fabric to them. /// Me encanta lo de los bolsillos asomándose. Le da un toque guay. Si los bolsillos no fueran lo suficientemente largos, cose un trozo de tela al pantalón por dentro.

Do It Yourself: Givenchy Bow Headband

Things that are "in" this season because of Gossip Girl: Coloured tights, specially white ones; red lipstick on teenagers; headbands, style trademark of the apparent goodliness of Blair Waldorf (although she's my favourite character of the series, she's the most wicked of all).

Probably that's why Riccardo Tisci dared to dress the models for the Givenchy SS 09 collection in western jeans... and bow headbands! I thought they were the perfect accesory. A little risky (you can look like a six year old girl on Sunday), but if you combine it with clothes that mellow the girly air it can look pretty well.

Cosas que están de moda a causa de Gossip Girl: Las medias de colores, principalmente blancas; el pintalabios rojo en adolescentes; las diademas, símbolo de la "santidad" aparente de Blair Waldorf (en realidad es la peor de todas, y lo digo aunque sea mi personaje favorito de la serie).

Probablemente por esta razón Riccardo Tisci se atrevió en la colección de Primavera/Verano 2009 de Givenchy a vestir a sus modelos con pantalones del oeste... ¡y con diademas de lacitos! Me pareció una monada de accesorio. Algo arriesgado (hay peligro de parecer una niña de seis años en domingo), pero combinándolo con prendas que le resten un poco de cursilería puede quedar muy bien.




- A plain headband. The best colours are beige and black. /// Una diadema lisa, sin estampados. Los colores que mejor quedan son beige y negro.

- 40 cm of ribbon (silk or satin will do). Length: 40 cm. Width: 2 cm aprox (the same colour of the headband) /// 50 cm de lazo (en seda o raso). De ancho 2 cm más o menos.

- A good glue /// Pegamento de contacto

- Scissors /// Tijeras

Cut 30 cm of ribbon. Glue the ends. Then cut 5 cm of ribbon and hold the long ribbon by the half like you see on the drawing. Then glue the short strip to the long one and glue the ends, so the long is strip is secured forming a bow.

Corta 30 cm de lazo. Pega los extremos. Después corta 5 cm de lazo y sujeta la mitad del lazo largo con el que acabas de cortar, para que parezca un lazo (ver el segundo dibujo). Sujétalo con unas gotitas de pegamento y enróllalo al lazo largo. Cuando esté bien apretado, pega el extremo.


Put some drops of glue on the headband and then add the bow. If you want your bow to be safely glued, use some ribbon to attach the bow to the headband like you did with the long strip of ribbon before

Pon unas gotitas de pegamento en el centro de la diadema y pega el lazo. Si quieres que el lazo se quede bien pegado, pon una tira de lazo sujetándolo a la diadema, como en segundo dibujo (arriba del todo).

Note:

If you want, glue the ribbon to one of the sides of the headband, not the upper middle. It will look great too /// Si quieres, pega el lazo a un lado de la diadema, en vez de arriba en el medio. También queda muy bien.

Story of a girl

Remember that I desperately wanted a denim jacket? Well, I didn't find a denim jacket, I found THE denim jacket. It is perfect, seriously. By Zara, of course. 49,90 € /// ¿Recordáis que estaba buscando una cazadora vaquera para comprarme? Bueno, no es que haya encontrado una cazadora vaquera, he encontrado La Cazadora vaquera, con mayúsculas. Es perfecta, en serio, me encanta. En Zara, claro. Por 49,90 €.


I finished the studding. I love the result. /// Por fin terminé de poner las tachuelas. Me gusta bastante cómo ha quedado.

Ladurée Macaroons!

When you go to Paris, buying Ladurée macaroons is a must. I love the colours. /// Si vas a París, tienes que comprar una cajita de macaroons en Ladurée obligatoriamente.
